Police say their main priority is to get all arterial routes open in time for rush hour this evening.
It follows the bad weather caused by Storm Jonas – heavy rain and storm force winds have caused problems around the Island.
The Mountain Road has now reopened although motorists are being warned to expect high winds and fog.
Coastal overtopping has also caused problems around the seafronts with debris being washed onto the roadway.
