An anonymous donor has donated £50,000 to help those in need in Afghanistan and Haiti.
Christian Aid's Louise Whitelegg launched an online fundraiser last week with the aim of raising £2,000 for victims of the Haiti earthquake and Afghan citizens during the crisis there.
In Afghanistan UK personnel are continuing to work quickly to evacuate as many people as possible but fears are mounting that not all evacuees will make it out of the country before American forces leave on 31 August.
In Haiti hundreds of people are still missing and thousands have been forced to live on the streets after their homes were destroyed by the earthquake.
Last week Christian Aid held a vigil in Douglas for people of all faiths to pray for the people of Afghanistan and Haiti.
The charity is raising funds for both causes.
