Chief Constable reflects on past road safety campaigns

With the Manx Grand Prix officially getting underway today we’ve asked the Chief Constable for his thoughts on road safety campaigns over the years ahead of his retirement this Christmas.

The MGP will mark the final major motorsport event that Mike Langdon oversees in his senior position, and he says the idea has always been the same, to promote safe and responsible riding and driving.

For the most part the message is gradually reaching more people but he concedes there are still those disregarding the warnings, and as a consequence there are still very serious and fatal accidents year on year.

We asked what he feels the key changes have been in the constabulary’s approach to policing the roads:
