Those on Island who are eligible to receive the HPV vaccination will now receive one dose rather than two.
That's the latest decision by the IOM Immunisation Committee, following a recent recommendation by World Health Organisation, based on a number of research studies.
It'll now mean those who've received a single dose before they're 25 are considered fully vaccinated.
However, there may be some exceptions where further doses may be clinically required, for example, for young people with a weakened immune system.
In this case, this will be discussed with children, their carers and young adults as part of their vaccination regime.
HPV is a common virus primarily spread through sexual contact - infection can cause a number of potential complications including cancers and other serious conditions.
As a result, the vaccine is offered each year to all year 8 pupils on Island to protect against HPV infection and reduce the risk of cancer.
