Mark Cavendish is out of the Tour de France following yesterday’s crash in the final 250 metres of the opening stage.
It resulted in a dislocated shoulder and ligament damage, with the injury throwing his inclusion in the Commonwealth Games for team Isle of Man into doubt also.
He has said he is absolutely devastated, but it would not be possible to start for Team Omega from a medical point of view.
Despite the crash Cavendish managed to struggle his way over the finish line.
