Mark Cavendish will be returning to the Isle Of Man without a medal.
The 23 year old and his partner Bradley Wiggins finished equal eighth in the Olympic track cycling Madison event in Beijing this morning.
The Laxey star made a sprint through the field with 30 laps left out of the 200, but Wiggins was unable to keep the attack going.
Team GB coach speaking from Beijing said that Wiggins was tired and showing signs of fatigue after already taking two gold medals this week.
