Mark Cavendish is today being awarded with the freedom of the Borough of Douglas.
The Mayor of Douglas Ritchie Mcnicholl will make the presentation to Cav, who is renowned as one of the world’s fastest cyclists.
With this honour he joins the likes of Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Norman Wisdom and the Bee Gees.
There had been previous reports that Cav had shunned efforts to present him with the honour in the past, something that he said couldn’t be further from the truth.
The world famous sportsman has said he loves coming home but the reason it's taken a while to arrange was down to his hectic schedule, and nothing else.
