The Chairman of Manx Care said rudeness towards care home staff must stop.
It follows a number of reports when homes were forced to close during a wave of coronavirus infections.
Andrew Foster said it has been a difficult time for families but it has also been difficult for staff.
He added: "I would hope there'll be no more recurrence of this- those staff are really just doing their best for the people in the homes- it is their job to prioritise resident safety".
Eight care homes on the Isle of Man, formally closed to visitors, have now started a phased reopening.
The first homes to reopen were Southlands and the Gansey Unit in Port St Mary, Sweetbriar at Thie Meanagh in Douglas, and Cummal Mooar and Reayrt Skyal in Ramsey.
Strict restrictions remain in place for at least two weeks, including compulsory lateral flow tests for visitors.
Visits are limited to one person for a maximum of 15 minutes and PPE must be worn.
