A bronze bust depicting Captain John Quilliam in Castletown has been subject to ongoing damage by vandals.
The statue which is located on the Quarterdeck opposite Castle Rushen had only just returned following extensive conservation work.
Since it was unveiled in 2005 it received an award recognising it as one of the UK's most outstanding public sculptures.
Manx National Heritage say they're currently assessing the impact of the vandalism, and potential costs to the charity of further repair, they urge the public not to try to remove the damage themselves as it may cause further harm.
Anyone who has information about the incidents should contact Police Headquarters on 631212.
