Injured shark has been spotted in Manx waters
The Isle of Man’s basking shark season is in full swing with over 125 sightings already reported.
With the high number of sightings a renewed call has gone out to all boat and jetski users to keep a look out for the gentle giants and exercise caution in Manx waters.
This year there has already been a sighting of an injured basking shark, very likely to have resulted from a collision with a vessel, highlighting the importance of keeping watch and keeping your distance.
The sharks can grow upto 10 metres in length, they’re spotted off the Island from May until September, with the most activity occurring in Port Erin and Peel Bay.
Any sightings should be reported to The Manx Basking Shark Watch.
