Bishop praises female bishop decision

The approval for female bishops is fantastic news says the Island's bishop Robert Paterson.

The General Synod reached the decision following a vote in York yesterday which saw overwhelming support in favour of its introduction.

It marks the end of 20 years of bitter debate and polarised opinions on the matter.

Bishop Patterson says he respects the fact there are differing views on the matter, but personally he considers it a great step forward for the Church.
