Wayne Gardner Calls TT Course a Death Trap
An outspoken Australian Motorbiking ace has lashed out against the TT, saying it’s high time it was banned.
Former 500cc World Champion Wayne Gardner wrote on his blog that he was shocked to hear that after two more deaths in this years TT the tradition is still allowed to continue.
He called the TT course a death trap saying that with all the efforts being made to improve rider safety he finds it crazy that the annual biking festival goes ahead year on year despite the regular loss of life.
Since it began in 1907 229 riders have lost their lives.
It’s a debate that’s raged on the Island for many years now with a portion of the Manx public sharing Gardner’s sentiments.
When asked about the future of the TT Chief Minister Tony Brown said that as long as the Manx Public want it, and as long as the riders want to participate then he can see no end in sight for the TT festival.
