Team Sky cyclist and Island resident Ben Swift has suffered a major setback to his Olympic hopes after fracturing his right shoulder during a training ride.
Its meant he’s had to withdraw from the Giro D’Italia, with it not known if he will now be ready to compete in the summer games.
Swift was earmarked as one of Mark Cavendish’s four support riders in his bid for road race gold at the end of July.
Cav has taken to his twitter feed to wish his friend and team mate a quick recovery.
His Team have said he will leave the current tour and go and concentrate on making a full recovery.
