The Ben-my-Chree has sustained minor damage to its hull and will require drydocking.
The Steam Packet Company says the damage was caused during passage to Belfast, and it can’t be repaired while the vessel is in the water.
An investigation is being undertaken into the circumstances surrounding the damage.
The company is assuring that at no point has the vessel or any member of crew been in danger.
An update on the progress of repairs will be given in due course.
