Emergency repair work is being carried out on the Ben-my-Chree after it collided with the linkspan in Douglas last night.
The incident, which happened as the boat was berthing, has caused damage approximately four metres above the water line.
No one was injured although the Steam Packet Company says an internal investigation has been launched into the cause of the collision.
The company says it needs to assess what long-term repair work is required and when that could take place. There’s unlikely to be any impact on TT sailings.
Passengers due to travel today are being transferred onto the Mannannan service to Liverpool.
