Walter Wannenburgh has been appointed as the Island's Attorney General.
Mr Wannenburgh said he's 'honoured' to be appointed by her Majesty the Queen.
He adds he's 'very much looking forward' to embracing the 'demands of this challening role'.
The Attorney General will be required to act as the legal adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, Council of Ministers, Government Departments and Statutory Boards.
It follows the death of former Attorney General Mr John Quinn QC earlier this year.
Mr Wannenburgh will be officially sworn in to the role later this year at a ceremony at Government House.
