Age Concern closely monitor pension situation

The head of Age Concern IoM has said the charity is keeping a close eye on developments with state pensions in the UK.

The British government wants to combine the UK state pension and any additional pension payments to make a single-tier system.

This would mean a single payment of almost £143 a week and affect people of pension age from the year 2017.

A person would have to contribute towards their national insurance for at least 35 years to be eligible for payment.

George Quayle said there’s no need for concern but hasn’t ruled out the system here changing:
