The Minister for Infrastructure will be asking for Tynwald approval to spend a significant amount to refurbish the Ramsey swing bridge.
The DoI are seeking £650,000 for the works.
The swing bridge has been a focal point of the town since 1892 and occasionally needs working on to replace Victorian mechanisms.
Harbour Master Captain Michael Brew said the tricky aspect will be access to the bridge:
