A new state of the art school in Onchan, which cost over £33 million to build, is aiming to stamp out crime.
St Ninian’s Lower School at Bemahague has received the "Secured by Design” benchmark after architects implemented a number of safety features into the school’s layout.
The design of the school is largely open plan which means there is limited "hidden space” for incidents of crime of bullying to take place.
Mike Radcliffe, the police’s architectural liaison officer, worked closely with architects. He told 3FM more about the project:
