Figures reveal a contamination incident last year cost the Manx Utilities Authority almost £12,000.
In the House of Keys yesterday Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper asked MUA Chairman Dr Alex Allinson how much the December incident had cost.
Dr Allinson said it cost a total of £11,760, with £3,931 spent on bottled water alone, after dirty water from the Ben my Chree was accidentally pumped into supplies in Douglas.
He said the Steam Packet Company had accepted responsibility and the MUA will fully recover all costs.
