Chief Minister Alf Cannan says it's never been a government ambition to grow the Island's population to 100,000 - despite it being described as an ambition in a government economic plan.
This week in Tynwald he faced questions from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse about the effects on schools and healthcare.
Mr Cannan said the 100,000 figure had never been a government ambition - but a government economic plan called "Our Island, Our Future" published in 2022 says "Ambition: we will grow our population to 100,000 residents by 2037".
In Tynwald, he said the figure had been misunderstood:
Prom closed to traffic until tomorrow
More overtopping on the way with yellow warning issued
Tuesday was busiest day in Ambulance Service history
Ramsey promenade now shut because of waves
Yellow weather warning for overnight snow and ice
