The Steam Packet Company has joined the pledge to help protect the Islands biosphere status.
The organisation has become partners with UNESCO Biosphere Isle of Man saying it's 'committed to leading the way in the shipping industry and minimising the impact of its activities on the environment'.
As a result, the company is outlining ten key principals to demonstrate how it can help the Manx climate which include preventing water pollution, monitoring and working to improve environmental performance as well as encouraging recycling from both staff and customers.
Fleet Operations Manager, Jim Royston, says in the longer term they're looking at more efficent engines and generators and considering the use of zero carbon alternative fuels.
