The head of the Steam Packet Company says a huge investment in Liverpool will guarantee services to Merseyside until 2018.
The company says it'll spend £540,000 carrying out repair work and maintenance at the Pier Head to make sure its vessels can keep berthing there.
Chief Executive Mark Woodward says as the government plans to buy its own landing stage, the work will ensure ferries can continue to use Liverpool in the meantime.
