There are plans to build a new industrial unit on an empty plot opposite Foxdale's clocktower.
Freighthub, which provides shipping services to the island from Widnes, has submitted the application for a building with three loading bays for lorries.
The development, used for storage and distribution, would also include an office and reception.
The company says the development on the site, which was used for mining in the 1800s, would allow the business to expand.
