Throughout 2018, Year of Our Island celebrated all that makes the Isle of Man a special place to live and work. From our themed months to our partner events and projects, we’ve worked with individuals and community groups to share what makes our Island special and encouraged everyone to try something new.
This year is the 200th anniversary of the construction of the Point of Ayre and Calf of Man lighthouses, and to coincide with this and to bring Our Island’s formal celebrations to a close we’re hosting a Festival of Light from the 8th to the 17th March 2019.
On Saturday 9th March, for one night only, come and see Castle Rushen as you've never seen it before.
We've teamed up with Manx National Heritage and Castletown Commissioners to shine a light on Castle Rushen and Castletown Square.
Castle Rushen will be extending its opening hours from 11am-8pm*, and there will be a dragon egg trail hunt.
From 5-8 pm there will be Illuminations in the Castle and square, a special edition fairy door trail, entertainment from spinnin' vannin', music from Castletown silver band plus a free community lantern display in the Barbican and much more!
Join us for an afternoon of workshops in Castletown Town Hall (from 11 - 3.30pm) and make yourself a cloud lantern or stained glass window to join our display!
Illuminations switch on at 6pm.
*normal entry fee applies - or don't forget your ACE cards or season/annual passes!
