Emergency services have been called to an incident in Port Erin.
Coastguard teams and a helicopter, police and ambulance crews have been called to Bradda Head as well as fire crews and Peel and Port St Mary lifeboats.
One bystander took a photo of smoke rising from the headland, while another posted video footage of the smoke to social media.
A number of people say they saw a small aircraft come down nearby.
Police are asking people to avoid the area, but no further details have yet been released.
