Warning over carbon monoxide telephone scam

The Office of Fair Trading says cold callers are trying to persuade people they need a device installed due to 'new government regulations'. 

 

The scammers also claim people will incur a substantial fine for not having the alarm fitted. 

 

The OFT says this is not the case and say anyone who receives a call like this should report it.
