Tribute paid to Island's Leading Firefighter

The Island's Fire and Rescue Service has paid tribute to a Leading Firefighter.

It comes following the sad news Jonathan Campbell passed away last weekend.

The service says 'It is with deep sadness, and at the request of the Campbell family, we announce the sudden and untimely passing of Leading Firefighter Jonathan Campbell, on Sunday 23rd July 2023.'

Jonathan joined the Fire & Rescue Service in 2001 and was based at Laxey Fire Station.

He's been described as a 'larger than life character' at the station and the service says he 'cared about all those who were lucky enough to come into contact with him.'

In 2022, Jonathan received his 20 year Long Service and Good Conduct Medal at a special presentation at Government House where he celebrated his achievement with his family.

Jonathan is survived by his wife Alison, his 3 children, Tom, Megan and Brandon and wider family.

Funeral arrangements will be confirmed in the coming days.

At this time Jonathan’s family have requested privacy to allow them time and space to mourn.

It adds 'On behalf of Jonathan’s Fire Service family, RIP, we will miss you. X'
