Steam Packet boss says company has done its best

Lack of communication with passengers affected by sailing cancellations is not the fault of Steam Packet staff.

 
That's the chief executive Mark Woodward who has apologised to those people whose travel plans have been disrupted.
 
A fault with the Ben-my-Chree's steering equipment means sailings were cancelled on Saturday and won't resume until Wednesday. 
 
Many passengers have been critical of the handling of the situation - especially on Dublin sailings - saying they weren't kept informed or able to get through to the call centre.
