Statue returned a year on from vandalism

The vandals targeted all aspects of the much loved garden costing Douglas Borough Council thousands of pounds.

The bronze figure of an athlete has been returned to its home in the Clifton Terrace rose garden in Douglas following a significant act of vandalism on the site a year ago.

Repairs to the statue cost £2000, with repairs to the lighting costing an additional £2000.

Reflecting on the vandalism a Council spokesperson branded it 'deplorable'.
