Public spaces left to rewild during summer

Grass verges around Douglas have been left uncut during the summer months in a bid to benefit bees, the biosphere, and the environment.

The Regeneration and Community Committee on Douglas Borough Council trialled the move in several areas around the Island’s capital.


Signs were put up to inform the public of why the grass was allowed to grow, however, some residents have criticised the move for making the town look untidy.


Councillor Andrew Bentley explains the initiative is not about neglecting certain areas:
