Protours serve redundancy notices to all workers after 40 years in business

Substantial amount of Protours contracts handed back to bus company

It’s been confirmed to 3FM by the Managing Director of Protours Coach Company that all 15 workers were served with redundancy notices yesterday.

Roy Lightfoot said the last trading year was far from what it used to be, and likewise the future isn’t looking too good either leaving the well respected company struggling.

He said its been getting progressively difficult since a substantial chunk of work provided by the government has been handed back to the bus company.

He said they are now going to use the next three months to see if a sensible solution can be found to move the company forward as a downsized operation.

For the time being it will be business as usual, however the express services from Ramsey and Port St Mary will cease at the end of August.

Protours have been serving the Island for over 40 years, Mr Lightfoot has said it's a very very sad day:
