New porcupine takes up residence on Island

Curraghs Wildlife Park has got a new resident - an African Crested Porcupine.

The male creature called "Mwana", which means "son" in Swahili was shipped to the Island from Cheshire via the Steam Packet.

He will be the new companion for the resident female after father and son duo "Quills and Prickles" were moved to a new home in England.

The park has also taken residency of six Mara - a large rodent that looks like a hare - which were all born at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
