New BMX track in Douglas will host International competitions

There are a number of youngsters on Island who routinely travel to the UK to take part in competitions, it’s hoped now with the new track the competition can come to them.

The Douglas Borough Council are hoping the towns recently completed BMX track will soon be able to host international competitions.

The overhaul was commissioned when the former track was deemed to be old and tired, the project has taken 18 months to complete at a cost of roughly £50,000.

There are a number of youngsters on Island who routinely travel to the UK to take part in competitions, it’s hoped now with the new track the competition can come to them.

Councillor Stephen Pitts has said it’s vital there are facilities like this for the young people on the Island with BMX racing in particular proving greatly popular.
