Manx National Heritage says it wants a new facility in the south of the Island to grow plants.
The organisation, which runs the Island's heritage sites, has applied for permission to build a new polytunnel in Ballasalla.
The site, on the Balthane Industrial Estate, currently houses a store for MNH's large objects collection but would grow plants for the organisation's various sites around the Isle of Man.
In a planning application, the body says the facility would be used during normal working hours.
