MHK to ask if regeneration scheme has been a success.

The Town and Village Regeneration Scheme will be a topic of discussion in the House of Keys on Tuesday.

Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly will be asking the Chief Minister how much of the £8 million fund for the scheme has been spent so far.

He'll also be seeking to find out where it has been allocated, broken down by town and village, with the intention of finding out if it has so far been a success.

Both Ramsey and Douglas have made significant improvements thanks to money from the scheme, with works completed on new paving and lighting in upper Nelson Street; Ramsey have made improvements to their court area of the town with attention now moving to the back lanes.

The Chief Minister will also be asked if he will ring-fence funds to extend the scheme once the initial budget is spent.
