A Liverpool man has denied importing drugs to the Isle of Man.

At Douglas Courthouse this morning Stephen James Wharton, from Kirkdale, pleaded not guilty to two charges of production of cannabis and two of possession with intent to supply.

The 52-year-old was allegedly found with more than 30kg of the Class B substance which reportedly has an Isle of Man street value of between £176,000 and £199,000.

He was stopped by police on Spring Valley Road in Pulrose on Saturday.

There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on February 2nd.
