A pub landlord who falsified accounting records after £6,000 of takings went missing will be sentenced in March.
47-year-old Mark Haigh appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where he admitted the offence from August last year.
Haigh, who now lives in Ribchester in Lancashire, was in charge of The Raven in Ballaugh when the accounting team at Heron and Brearley noticed a series of 'banking anomalies'.
They uncovered a £4,000 shortfall - further checks revealed a paying in slip from August 15th had been amended to show he'd paid in £4,937 when he'd actually deposited just £937.
Haigh was suspended - he later admitted £6,000 of TT takings had gone missing after he was called away 'unexpectedly' during the process of counting it.
Instead of reporting it Haigh said he'd decided 'in desperation' to hide the loss and pay back the amount from his own money.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday the prosecutor told the court "there was no way of knowing what had happened to the money" which went missing.
Social enquiry reports have been requested before Haigh is sentenced on March 23rd - he's been bailed until that date.
