Government set to raise air passenger duty

Travelling through the airport could be about to get more expensive - if Tynwald approves changes to air passenger duty.

When the court sits next month, Treasury Minister Alex Allinson will ask members to back raising the charges to keep them at UK levels.

Under the proposals, long-haul reduced rates would rise from £87 to £88, while the standard rate would go from £191 to £194.

Ultra-long-haul rates would be set at £92 reduced rate and £202 standard.
