Four local men accused of being in drugs gang

Four local men accused of being involved in a drugs gang smuggling cocaine and cannabis to the Island have appeared in court.

47 year old Christian Mayers of Ashley Park in Onchan, 57 year old Colin Richards of Waverley House in Ramsey and Douglas men 32 year old Alan Dickinson of Demesne Road and 23 year old Liam Skillicorn of Lheannag Park appeared before magistrates.

All are charged with being in a crime organisation and being concerned in producing cocaine and cannabis, while Mr Dickinson is accused of having class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

The court heard police discovered drugs in a van in Onchan belonging to Mr Mayers, and later watched a boat ferry drugs from North Wales before returning with drugs cash.

Last October, a car was abandoned at the Sloc after a police chase - inside was cocaine worth up to £99,000 and cannabis worth £56,000.

No pleas have yet been entered, and all were remanded in custody until May 23.
