The Department of Infrastructure is putting together a design team as it presses ahead with plans for a new ferry terminal in Liverpool.
It's asking for design consultants to tender for the work which would see new facilities built at Princes Half-Tide Dock.
The government will need new facilities for the Steam Packet company after Liverpool City Council announced plans for an international cruise liner terminal at the Pier Head.
In the tender documents, the government says it's appointed Manchester-based Turner and Townsend as project managers.
