DCCL hopeful they can still deliver effective bus service

The Department of Community, Culture and Leisure says it’s hopeful it can still operate an effective bus service ahead of strike action.

Bus drivers have voted to strike for three days from Thursday after negotiations failed over changes to their terms and conditions. 

Public transport workers who hold PPV licences and casual drivers will be drafted in to cover a reduced bus service, similar to the Sunday schedule. 

DCCL Chief Executive, Nick Black outlined how they intend to still keep their service running to an acceptable level:
