Computer hacker claims his arrest 'breached his human rights'

A computer hacker who claimed the police conspired with his employer has been told he can't decide which legal firm represents the Chief Constable.

John Henry Griffin was convicted of unauthorised access to data and unlawfully obtaining personal data in 2019 - he later saw an appeal against his conviction thrown out as well as an employment tribunal against RL360.

He's suing the Chief Constable claiming his arrest breached his human rights, and wanted to stop advocates from Appleby from representing police because it had also acted for his former employer.

But Deemster Corlett dismissed his claim, saying there was no conflict of interest and the court didn't have the power to decide which advocate could be involved in cases.
