Commissioner ‘refutes’ allegations of misrepresenting Roundhouse access issues

Braddan Commissioners says it ‘refutes’ any allegations that it’s acting in ‘bad faith’ or ‘peddling misrepresentations’ about access to The Roundhouse.

The local authority has confirmed that unless the cost of building a new access road is provided by the government, they will continue to use the West Drive and hospital roads which it claims was agreed in 2016.

In a statement, Braddan says it reiterates that they didn’t know an access road would be needed to the community centre until December 2023 and not in 2022.

The board also says the ‘mess’ is due to the Department of Health and Social Care ‘reneging’ on what it believes is a lawful decision to allow the public the right to use the hospital roads, but the DHSC says its position hasn’t changed.

Braddan Commissioners also claims it has had no evidence they had been informed earlier than December that an access road would be needed and the board hasn’t received any risk assessments which ‘informed’ the decision to issue a notice for cutting off vehicle access.
