Cavendish to join BBC commentary team

Thursday, August 2nd 2012 01:00

Despite his Olympic medal campaign ending with disappointment Mark Cavendish will be back in the spotlight today as part of BBC’s commentary team.

The World Champion will be joining the team for the track cycling coverage.

Its been a disappointing week for Cav who went into Saturday’s road race as odds on favourite to pick up the gold for Team GB; something that would have made him the first Manx gold recipient in a century.

After a late breakaway from his team failed to materialise he had to settle for 29th place.

It’s done little to mar what has been undoubtedly the most successful twelve months of his career.

The coverage gets underway from this morning.
