Cannabis case adjourned until December

A 60-year-old man who has pleaded guilty to possessing and cultivating cannabis has had his case adjourned.

Douglas man Joseph Crook appeared at Douglas Courthouse earlier this week after admitting two counts of possession and cultivation.

The court heard how police stopped him on Victoria Road on August 23rd to alert him to a traffic jam when the officer smelt cannabis.

He saw Mr Crook smoking the drug and searched his vehicle where he also found a "substantial" quantity of cannabis in a bag - a subsequent search of his home found he was cultivating four plants and 18 cuttings.

Mr Crook's advocate said he smoked the drug for pain relief and to relieve depression.

The case has now been adjourned for reports to be compiled - he will next appear in court on December 2nd.
