Apprentice star gives island opinion

The Apprentice’s Nick Hewer, one of Alan Sugar’s most trusted friends and advisers, has visited the island to deliver a talk to Junior Achievement participants.

The scheme is an island-wide initiative that gives young business brains a chance to run their own companies and experience first-hand the challenges this involves.

Since first airing six years ago, The Apprentice has made a household name of the 67-year-old former PR chief who quickly gained cult status for his for very direct style and straight-talking manner.

In January, Mr Hewer will take over from Jeff Stelling as the new host of Channel 4’s Countdown.

In his interview with us he openly discussed the lead-up to this, and also shares his thoughts on the island’s young business minds, Stuart Baggs, IoM PLC, his own professional triumphs and disasters and his take on fame (see audio).
