A community police sergeant has told 3FM that police in the Island are currently dealing with an increased number of incidents on Facebook.
Both children and adults have been victims of bullying via social networking sites and internet forums.
While Facebook has its own security measures many problems slip through the net because the site is so large.
Sergeant Wendy Barker has said people often don’t think before sending messages but that the impact on victims was substantial:
