145% increase in domestic abuse calls

Police have seen a 145% increase in calls over domestic abuse compared to this time last year.

That's according to figures from Chief Constable, Gary Roberts, speaking at this afternoons Coronavirus press briefing.

Meanwhile, Mr Roberts also says over 40 arrests have now been made for people committing COVID-19 offences.

He adds officers have been spat at and also been dealing with repeat offenders.
