Throughout 2018, Year of Our Island celebrated all that makes the Isle of Man a special place to live and work. From our themed months to our partner events and projects, we’ve worked with individuals and community groups to share what makes our Island special and encouraged everyone to try something new.
This year is the 200th anniversary of the construction of the Point of Ayre and Calf of Man lighthouses, and to coincide with this and to bring Our Island’s formal celebrations to a close we’re hosting a Festival of Light from the 8th to the 17th March 2019.
Taking place on the 16 and 17 March 2019 we’d like to invite you to join us in Mooragh Park.
Especially for our Festival of Light we are excited to introduce the Illumaphonium - a spectacular multi-sensory art installation standing at almost 3.5m high made up of a total of over 300 illuminated chime bars, we’d like to thank the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for partnering with us to provide this installation. The Illumaphonium is a touch activated musical sculpture from artist, inventor and musician Michael Davis where audience participation is actively encouraged!
Featuring Illuminations on the lake, we're also lighting up the fauna in the park, there will be entertainment from spinnin' vannin', LED mini golf, music from Ramsey Town band, a community lantern display and more!
Illuminations switch on at 6pm on the 16th March. Installations will still be viewable on the 17th of March from 1 - 8 pm.
